The Supreme Court of India declares Triple Talaq as unconstitutional with a vote of 3:2 in a landmark judgment read out by the Chief Justice of India today. The verdict says that Triple Talaq is abolished for a period of six months till the legislation on it is passed in the Parliament or is rejected in the Parliament. The apex court urged all political party to shed the ideological differences and make a law. The triple talaq is abolished for a period of six months and if parliament is unable to pass a legislature or reject it by that time, the ruling will continue. It is seen as a sigh of relief to many Muslim women who has been knocking the door of court of law against this practice. This is a big victory of the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party who has promised in its election manifesto to bring equality among the women.
